About the Event

The ancient medical science of Ayurveda is unique in that it approaches improving your health through boosting your digestion, which Ayurveda poetically imagines to be like a fire. Having a healthy 'digestive fire' in the Ayurvedic tradition, is the best indicator of overall health. In Ayurveda, the concept of digestion involves the body as well as the mind. Healthy digestion of your food and emotions positively impacts the quality of your sleep and reduces stress, among other potent health benefits. Join Shaaranya on a 4-week Ayurvedic journey to learn not only what to eat, but also how, where and when for optimal digestion. This class combines theory and practice with warm, freshly-cooked sample meals, plenty of practical Ayurvedic home remedies and hands-on diet and lifestyle tools to help you put what you learn into practice outside the classroom. Instructor: Geetanjali Chakraborty. After five years of Molecular Biology at Georgetown and Stanford University, Shaaranya began seeking more holistic and integrated pathways for health. She is a Certified Ayurveda Clinical Specialist and heads a donation-based Ayurveda clinic at India Community Center in Milpitas. She is also an Associate Faculty Member at Vedika Global, where she teaches Ayurveda Pharmacology.
